During the PADI Open Water course you focused primarily on yourself and mastered knowledge and skills for taking care of yourself underwater and on the surface. In the Advanced Open Water course, your focus broadened to include the environment in a variety of situations. In the PADI Rescue Diver course you're about to enter the next stage in which your focus broadens to include other divers and people around you.

The PADI Rescue Diver program prepares you to help prevent, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies, minor and major, with a variety of techniques. Your skills and confidence as a diver will be enhanced. Most certified Rescue Divers look back on their rescue training as one of the most challenging - sometimes demanding - and therefore most rewarding programs. The subject is serious but the training is fun.

  • You will need to be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization).
  • You must be at least 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver).
  • Proof of 20 or more logged dives.
  • Successfully complete a sanctioned course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-Primary Care) and basic first aid (Secondary Care) within the past two years (24 months).

The PADI Rescue Diver course is divided into 2 parts, knowledge development and open water rescue training dives which covers:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Diving first aid
  • Emergency management and equipment considerations
  • Swimming and non-swimming assists
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water artificial respiration egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure-related accidents
  • Diving accident scenarios

By the time you finished the Emergency First Response and PADI Rescue Diver courses, you'll be a qualified first responder - whether an accident occurs in or out of the water. Take the training to become mentally and physically prepared to handle any diving situation

At Ocean Xplorer, all of our scuba diving certification courses include all the certification and instruction fees, and also the use of cylinders, weights and weight belt, buoyancy control device and regulators on all dives.

  • Receive PADI Rescue Diver Certificate of Recognition and Certification Card after completing the course
  • Original PADI Rescue Diver Crew-Pak (required training materials) that includes:
    • PADI Rescue Diver Manual in full color and self-paced designed
    • Diving Accident Management work slate
    • Water-resistant carrying bag
    • Transparent PADI Decal (sticker)
  • 5 open water training dives

In addition we teach all of our diver level courses in small groups to ensure that you receive the attention that you deserve. All our courses are taught according to PADI Standards.

The course takes half a day or more in the classroom, and two days on the island for the open water rescue training dives.
